New Thing #2 - Discovering My Inner Self

Tonight's new thing involved my friend Betsy, some cards and the cosmos. We went and had tarot readings done at the Center for Mind, Body & Spirit, and yes it's a legit place. She opted for the full half hour tarot reading and I switched between 15 minutes of a tarot reading and 15 minutes of an astrology reading. Now, I'll have to admit, I had no expectations going into this. I thought of it as a fun thing to do and I planned on taking it all with a grain of salt. I guess too many Miss Cleo commercials warped me. But, I was surprised at what I learned. I started with the astrology reading based on my birth date. She had a chart with each one of the astrological signs in its own box. She made a bunch of notations, drawings and numbers that meant absolutely nothing to me, but she tried to explain as much as she could in only 15 minutes. I still have no idea what those chicken scratches meant, but it is all very scientific. Some things I already knew about myself, but some were explained in a new way. I'll give you the run down of what she said about me (at least as much as I can remember):
-My Moon is in Libra, which apparently means that my subconscious is focused on feelings/emotions.
-I like balance in my life and am often the mediator between people.
-I'm very concerned with other people and how they feel and wanting them to be happy.
-I do what's fair and right.
-I love to tell a story, and I'm usually enthusiastic and fun-loving and love to embellish the story to make it more entertaining. (Unless you've just met me, you should already know this by now!!)
-I love a lot of people and am good at having a lot of people around me.
-I attract a lot of people.
-I love to talk and communicate.
-Sometimes I do need to retreat into myself though.
-I'm organized.
-I'm stimulated by lots of things, and really enjoy doing new things (is she reading my blog?!?)
-I'm intuitive and know a lot about the people that I love.
-I'm very accepting of things and people.
-I like to have things my way, but I'm also willing to listen and see other people's view points.
-I'm very hard on myself and can get in my own way.
-I can change, which is good.
-I fight for the underdog.
-I don't like to be controlled.
-I need to let things go instead of obsessing about whether or not I made the right choice.

My personality numbers are as follows:
4 in the "Air" category which stands for communication.
3 in the "Fire" category which stands for energy and inspiration and drive.
2 in the "Water" category which stands for sensitivity.
1 in the "Earth" category which stands for practicality.
She said that your personality numbers are just what's on the outside and can change.

My character numbers are as follows:
3 in the "Cardinal" category which stands for willpower and initiation. People with high cardinal numbers are starters.
3 in the "Fixed" category which stands for stability and determination. People with high fixed numbers are finishers.
4 in the "Mutable" category which stands for flexibility and adaptability. People with high mutable numbers are the reworkers of something that's complete.
She said that a lot of people are usually high on one of the numbers, but since my numbers are all equal, she said I have Perfect balance. She seemed very excited about it and told me that I should never forget that. I have great balance in my character, which I never really thought about before.

Wow, looking back on that, she gave me quite a bit of information in only 15 minutes. Next, I went on to a tarot reading. I honestly expected this to be me pulling out a card and her telling me something about my life, etc. etc. That's not how it went at all. She told me to think of some issue in my life, we'd talk about it for a little bit, and then I was to chose one card, and she would give me another perspective on how to look at the issue. I won't get into details on what dilemma I had, but the card I pulled was "Strength" and it faced me. I was in charge of shuffling the cards and I chose which card I wanted. I had to make sure I turned it side to side when I turned it over rather than up and down. That's why the card facing me was so important. It means that I have a lot of inner strength and integrity, and it reinforced a lot of what she told me with the astrology.

She gave me some other information that really made me think about things differently, so I have to admit that it was worth the money I paid. It was completely not what I thought it would be, but it ended up being very cathartic, and I'm glad I did it. Thanks to Betsy for going with me. I think she got a lot of clarity for her situation as well.
