The Final Countdown

The big 3-0. It's finally arrived and I'm still alive and kicking! The world didn't end! And I have 52 new things under my belt to show for it. I can't believe my list is complete. This experience has been really incredible. A year ago, who would have ever thought I'd be parasailing, hot air ballooning, learning to drive a stick shift and coyote hunting! When I first thought of this idea, I had no idea what it would turn into. I thought it would just be a fun way to end my last year in my 20s. I'm ready to turn 30, don't get me wrong, but I wanted to head into my fourth decade with some style. And I think I accomplished what I set out to do. The finale is a bit bittersweet for me though. While I'm so happy with what I've done, I'm not going to lie to you. I'm kinda glad the pressure of one new thing a week is finally over. Now, I can enjoy new things whenever I damn well please!

But, I couldn't have done all of this without my friends and family, and even people out there I've never even met. I can't thank everyone enough for all the support you've given me over the last year. The fact that you've all gone on this ride with me, whether it's by doing a new thing or by reading about it, means the world to me. Thanks to each and every one of you, you know who you are, that braved the skies, big guns and easter egg hunts with me. To be able to experience these new things with the people I love and care about is beyond words. It made my journey that much more special and meaningful. I never thought when I started this it would end up being such a hit. And it's all of you who made it that way. Without you guys reading this every week, I may not have felt compelled to complete each new thing. But, you gave me the motivation to keep going, even when I was scrambling for a new thing. I will be forever grateful for your love and support. :)

But, fear not, my loyal readers. ;-) The "Heather-Jones-Countdown-to-30" may be over, but my desire to continue to do new things has only been fueled these last 52 weeks. I still plan on doing new things and writing about them. It won't be every week, but nothing can stop what I've begun. I'm going to come up with a new web address too. Maybe something like "HeatherJones:YepI'm30Now". :) We'll see. But, stay tuned. I'm not finished yet.

As you know, I'm incredibly proud of you, but I wanted to throw it into an official blog comment :) I'd like to think I may have inspired you to become so adventurous when I talked you into skydiving 4 years ago... to think that was your first time ever in a plane, and now you are a traveling, flying, shooting fool, ha! And no doubt you are a very talented writer- so I'm glad you are going to keep up with that. Sarah and I are anxious to read your book about boys and dating someday :) Anyway, I wish I could have done more new things with you, but I'm grateful for the awesome experiences we did share this year. Oh yeah, rock on!
