New Thing #15 - The "Miss Heather Jones"

Orange Vodka. Coconut Rum. Peach Schnapps. Triple Sec. Pineapple Juice. Cranberry Juice. Those are the ingredients in a Miss Heather Jones drink. Of course there's only one bartender that will actually know what that is. Small details. Tonight I joined my friends Sarah and Rob on a trek to Harrah's Casino to say goodbye to one of their friends who is moving out of St. Louis. The boys primarily went to see one of their favorite cover bands: Extremely Pointless. And yes, there were many jokes made about how extremely pointless it was to see them. Since Sarah and I had no desire to watch a hard rock cover band all night, we set off to see some of the flair bartenders in action.

I've never seen these guys in action before. Sure, I've seen Cocktail, but it's pretty cool to see these guys work live. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of time and practice that goes into becoming a flair bartender. Good thing they make plastic unbreakable bottles to practice with.

Well, Shaun, our bartender, listened to the liquors and mixers that I like, and created a drink for me. And it was awesome. Sweet and fruity, but not over the top sugary. (And even though those are probably the ingredients for another drink he makes, I still felt special. lol) But, the best part was watching him throw the bottles and shakers around. He even tossed cherries into the air and caught them on a toothpick he was holding in his mouth. Pretty impressive.

This week was pretty tame, but after last week, I figured I should do something low-key. :)
